CULLODEN - Gerald Foster's shirt was a real eye-catcher at last week's Cabell County Fair.

"THIS SHIRT IS ILLEGAL IN 52 COUNTRIES," it read.

It also read "Restricted Nations: 38" and "Hostile Areas: 14." The back of the shirt quotes Romans 1:16 "I am not ashamed of the Gospel..."

The shirt is sold by the Voice of the Martyrs. The VOM is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide.

Like VOM, the Grace Fellowship Church, in Culloden, is a church of believers in Jesus Christ.

Since its start, in 1961, then named Hurricane Evangelical Free Church, the church has proclaimed Jesus as Savior and the Bible as God's word.

Gerald Foster, of Hurricane is a lay elder of the church, or a volunteer spiritual leader. He joined the church in the 1970s.

Last week, Foster spent time spreading the word of God at the Cabell County Fair.

In his sharing, Foster referred to the substitutionary atonement, which refers to Jesus Christ dying as a substitute for sinners.

"The main thing we want to give out is the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ," Foster said.

Additionally, Foster passed out cold water, pamphlets and booklets covering various subjects, such as how to deal with anger. He also offered prayer requests by way of cards.

But the focal point of the booth was a cross with the words "Are you ready?" typed across it. The words represent the law and the cross represents grace, Foster said.

"When you die, what happens to you," he asked. "The Bible says it is appointed unto me to stand before the judgment of God. Jesus Christ came, that is the grace - what the cross is about. That's the message. When it comes to the law, we are all guilty."

Grace Fellowship Church offers fellowship groups, scripture reading, children's lesson and nursery, Biblical counseling and a monthly prison ministry. Foster likes that the church teaches sovereign grace.

"The word of God is proclaimed faithfully each week in the gospel," he said.

Grace Fellowship Church is located at 2296 Joy Lane, in Culloden.
